I have found that most recruiters are very lackadaisical when it comes to keeping the candidate posted as to the status of their application for employment or contract work.
In all my years I have always found that they will continue to hound you and track you down on the phone when THEY need information or a response from YOU. But when it comes down to a simple courtesy call to keep YOU posted with info like "The manager is out this week", or "They just instituted a hiring freeze", or "We found a better candidate", these agents/recruiters just WONT pick up the phone to keep the candidate posted.
