In Reply To: You are doing the same things over and over again expecting different results - it's time to open your eyes to a better way of penetrating the market. Posting a question on a message board probably won't provide you the magic answer you're seeking. You've got to take control of your search & fix it! You and your wife deserve that. Start by focusing your search on the people who can help you end it....hiring managers/Directors/VPs. These people will recognize your talents and understand how your skills fit into their companies and ultimately make the decision on who they hire. Most HR reps can't do that. So pick up the phone and call the companies you want to work for and where you think you'll find the most success. There you can find who to speak to. Next, identify your most marketable and transferable skills and clearly communicate those to these people. When you start your communications with the right people, the ball will start to roll. CareerKeysMan is right on. HR exists to eliminate you - so eliminate them from your search. Now knowing what you have done and what you can do might be a challenge and may be where professional assistance would help you most. I really don't know enough about you to even know that. My message to you was simply to open your eyes. It was never meant to be a marketing speech and I'm sorry if you read it as such. If you browse the Vault boards, you'll see, I regularly dish our "free" advice to Vault members. I expect nothing in return. I do this because I truly care about people and want to help - it's what lead me to the business of careers to begin with. All I want for the people I talk to is to be as happy and satisfied in their jobs as I am in mine. That is a real possiblility for every professional in a job search. Here's how I can help you. I'll gladly review your resume for you. Just email it to me: publicrelations@rlstevens.com Andrea
Message: Sorry if it sounded that way. I actually did submit my information to your company and received a response with a number to call. Unfortunately, I don't have time during the day to step out of the office to make such a phone call, so I'm not sure how much good it will do me. Thanks anyway.
