In Reply To: I don't think it matters that the head is an A-Hole. They are everywhere. If the firm doesn't have any legal or ethical problems, I wouldn't worry about it. Just because the head is an A-Hole, doesn't mean you are. Plus, there are a lot of A-Holes working in banking today. Remember, it's really tough these days. There's probably 300 to 400 applicants minimum for every banking job. The bubble is surely gone for good. Employers are in the driver's seat.
Message: First, thanks for the responses. And its not only the a-hole factor, I feel at some level the company I work for is perceived as a really lower level organization. I went there because my previous employer, a second tier German financial institution, was acquired by ING. The situation was tenous and I did not want to come in one day and clean out my desk. I did something proactive. Plus the place I went to had people I knew from my former job and the two organizations preceding that. So I thought it would be a good thing. When I came here I found that the US market is not a prime focus. Hence we are not as active in the market and usually wind up not being on anyone's radar. I know that there are 300 to 400 applicants per job but I guess the old standards of being more valuable when you have a job left with the bubble. I agree the bubble is gone but I would hope I am still vaiable enough one day to see the pendulum swing the other way and the employees again being in the driver's seat.
