Select the person you have the best "relationship" with. The one you feel most comfortable speaking to about this matter. Then pick up the phone and call him/her.
Explain the course of events briefly and ask for clarification.
Emails are too impersonal and a voice contact will also allow you gauge the "tone" of the conversation.
