I have to ask this question because its been preying on my mind:
I think that the company I currently work for has such a reputation in the NY market that although I have the right credentials I never get a foot in the door. Recruiters see my resume on Monster or Six Figure Jobs or other sites and call me or e-mail me. They obviously do not know that the organization I work for has a terrible rep among foriegn banks in NY. The minute I get pitched to a prospective employer it dies. The only thing I can think of is that when they hear who I work for they say "pass".
I would like to excise the name of my company from my resume but an acquaintance who runs a career consulting company says that would be a bad move.
What do I do about this?
Thanks for any input. |

If your firm had a bad reputation or is known to be unethical, this will be a problem. Especially, in Finance, where reputation is everything.
