In Reply To: Is the job market getting any better? I've been doing data entry for about 15 months now, and I can't stand it anymore. I'm wondering if I should quit in September and start looking, again, for a Marketing position. Any comments?
Message: September won't be any better than July, why? Because you determine the outcome of your career search. The truth is this... thousands of people are being laid off every week (just search on the word layoff in Google News and you'll see how shocking it really is). There will always be more job seekers than open positions. With that said, when will there ever be a "good time" for a job seeker to enter the marketplace? The strategies you use, your personal marketing materials, who you send them to, the methods you use to generate leads and how well you interview all determine the end result. If you give up and settle for less than you should, who is responsible for that? Certainly not the job market or the time of year. If you are a great marketer, then your skills are always in demand. I mean, have you ever heard of a company who has enough sales? So here??s your solution: Put your marketing expertise to work for you, get out there and market yourself into the position you deserve! You can do it regardless of the time of year. Andrea http://interviewing.com/
