live and learn, but not much good to learn from this episode besides the fact that HR departments of big-faceless corporations are often times filled with heartless pr*cks and/or b*tches.
Unless there is something your not telling us, (a past felony, terrible body-odor, a goiter, etc ), there is no reason for you to have been treated this way, BESIDES the fact that these people think it's acceptable behavior.
Unfortunately, wasting anymore energy on this company, may be just that, more wasted energy.
You seem very well-spoken and should be able to secure another position in no time. It is amazing how long "no-time" feels when looking. Good Luck.

I gotta think there's something else going on. It maay not be anything more sinister than the fact that the funding for the job evaporaated and they are looking for an excuse to retract the job offer.
It was simply the paperwork (and the paperwork in question should normally be very routine), the HR person would simply get in touch with their contacts at your school, who would confirm (with your permisssion) that you did indeed go to school there. Also, unless the interviewers were totally incompetent (which is possible) the original poster would have been questioned extensively about his schooling, extensively enough so it would be close to 100% certain that he did indeed go though this scholling.
If I am intepreting the original post correctly, the original poster went through a traditional oncampus recruiting program, so there is no reason for the HR people to doubt that he did in fact at least come very very close to graduaating :-)
