Message Name: My best advice for you

In Reply To: Thanks. The key problem I face now is trying to get a fair pay for selling my life away without pissing my new boss. I'm trying to set a meeting up with him to renegotiate my package. How would you suggest I approach this?
Message: EXGE, it's really impossible for me to tell you what to do because I know nothing about your specific situation. I don't know your corporate culture, your current position, the position you are moving into, your current compensation vs the compensation of the position you will take, responsiblities, industry standards, etc. My best advice to you is this: Don't do anything to risk your position. If you are unsure how to handle this situation and you fear your current position or the "promotion" is at risk, then seek professional assistance. Get yourself a coach or career counselor for the advice you're seeking. If you had a legal problem surely you wouldn't represent yourself in court would you? There are pros available to you that can give you the advice you need. But be cautious, anyone willing to dish out advice to you without knowing anything about you can't possibly help you.
