In Reply To: I guess have might have worded that wrong. I don't know what to call it but my offer was rescinded. I never started a day. I guess the only reason why I'm hanging on to this company is because I turned down everything else to go to it. Also, I plan to go B-school later and work at a Fortune 500 Company (also BIg 4 in its industry) would really look good on my resume. Finally, most companies aren't hiring right now and won't start again until the fall. The only reason why I keep dealing with the HR is because I think they're the one controlling the position. I've talked to a few partners at the firm that want me on their team but they give my resume to the HR dept and everything stops. It seems like they're might be some red flag on my name that prevents me from being employed there. I'm actually looking at other firms but things are just slow right now. Also, it's hard to get an interview with a firm when you're out of town.
Message: SixtyCent, I'm sorry this opportunity hasn't worked out for you. Are you still actively pursuing other opportunities? If not, my recommendation is to do so. I don't know why you think companies aren't hiring now - ccompanies hire all year long and if you are the solution to a problem you can bet that company would want to gobble you up and end your job search misery. I know it's frustrating dealing with unresponsive recruiters and companies. From my experience, I fully believe if they treat you like this now, it won't get better on the inside. Your best move now is to put yourself in a position of strength. The hardest thing to do is to walk away, but it's the best negotiating strategy you have right now. Walk away from the table. If they want you, they will come to you. If they don't, then you haven't wasted any additional time and you're still moving forward in your search. Until you have an offer in writing - you really have no offer at all. So take this as a lesson for your future. Get back out there and market your skills to the audience that wants what you offer and you'll find the success you are looking for in your job search. Hope this helps. Andrea
