Message: The eternal question. Be sure to check out one of the many "Dress for Success" books out there. John Malloy's books are particularly helpful because different parts of the country have different expectations. I agree with the previous posts that you should wear the best outfit in your closet (or go to Brooks Bros. or Jos. A. Banks, for example and pick up a new suit). It will be the best investment in your career that you can make right now and there are lots of summer sales. It should be a solid gray, 2 or 3 button, with cuffed slacks, in a nice 2-3 season weight, and in wool (superfine's are the best but might be beyond your budget). Pay attention to your shoes (freshly shined), your nails should be well-groomed, and carry a professional looking portfolio (with extra copies of your resume, notepaper and pen).
