Put Major GPA on resume |

I am an engineering student entering my senior year in the fall. My freshman year was disastrous - I thought I could cruise by without studying (like in high school)and ended up with a horrible 2.1 for the year. I have since learned my lesson, and my sophomore and junior grades were 3.5 and 3.6.
I hate my cumulative GPA and I don't think it reflects who I am today. Is there a better number I can put on my resume? I find it very tempting to exclude my freshman grades. Is that acceptable? |

People often screw up their freshman year. I know I did. Hell, John Kerry's freshman grades we just released and he had 4 D's his freshman year at Yale. It happens to many of us when we get our first taste of freedom away from home.
So, to remedy this many people just put the GPA of their Major. I've seen it many times, since I often participate in recruiting for my firm. That is what an employer really cares about anyway. And if they ask for your cumulative GPA, tell them that you made a few mistakes, and that you do not feel that those grades are a good reflection of you now. They will most likely understand.
