In Reply To: I have been working the past 3 years as a small package courier putting about 2,000 miles weekly on my second car now and working 60 hours weekly. Pays the bills and nice not being stuck in corporate cubicle on nice day, but I feel like I am wasting my degrees and licenses and 20 years experience, despite my daily job search. "We want somebody doing this type of work currently". Recruiters seem to be looking for perfect job description match with your most recent position. Oh well, I will keep praying while driving!
Message: YEP! Hang in there! You are the norm now for advanced degrees. Recruiters are basically a waste of time. They are really agents for a few people that are hot shots. I would not trust them with ANY personal information either. They always ask "send me a resume" but I have never heard of anyone being hired via recruiters. But they do move around their few "close prospects". I've heard that's its better to "dumb down resume"...say for a book keeping job. Kinda work thru the ranks, but Don't tell anyone you have a MBA or CPA! AN try tailoring resume to exactly that job...use your "creativity". Hey, they can't fire you for saying you can do book keeping yet leaving off CPA thing. Employers are cheap and only want to pay the min. wage - or like to use college interns for free. Also, get friendly with small operations - like little law firms, one person operations etc...ideally after 40 years old, you'll have to be out on your own - no one hires people after 40 years old. You are too smart and tend to ask too many questions! Hang in there - and don;t forget to "vote" your frustrations with local political people - after all - did not you buy into AMerican dream by working hard? So you if you played by the rules...are not you entitled to a fair shake? Good luck and hang in there!
