Yep!
With a bunch of advanced degreess and expereince - with out any connections you are facing the toughest ecoenomy in US history. I hear from recruiters all the time who just move their people around.
as to the Internet - according to DBM - see their website - only about 1% of job seekers ever get a job from internet. I get so much spam from signing up to job boards etc - i just spend the time deleting junk email.
Yep, there's no question that if you are educated in the US you are facing a tough economy.
But you should be looking globally for jobs now. There was a Wall Street Journal article about people leaving for China for good jobs. I saw some 2-5 millions Americans work over seas as Ex-=pats and the numbers are growing. If you are geographically fixed, you may as well get a good trade like roofing or construction not higher education. Heating companies are always looking for staff - and Boston could be great! Forget that higher gets you a job - its nice to have an MBA - but chances are no one will hire you in years and you would be better off working a trade to pay the bills.
CHeck out community colleges to...and chances are - if you hide that MBA and college - you'll get hireds and work well!
Good luck! |

Sure the latest buzzwords of globalization and China... Go East yong man.
As an experienced (BS Eng + MBA) who has been to China 20 times plus since 1998 on business, be realistic about opportunties in China! My background in doing business in China range from pharmaceutical to computer products for 1 of the biggest software company to consumer electronics for well know European company as project manager for major launches. Let's just say been there and done that.
Reality is that typical local engineer makes about $700/month. They speak decent Enlish and of course Mandarin. Expat perks? Nah, unless you're director level plus but most companies find tons of local talents with overseas MBA. I was offered expat job by q of my supplier but in addition to living (vs visiting and having good time with local girlfriends in karaoke parlors) education cost for my little ones were, gasp, $24k/year per kid!
