Message Name: waiting for letter of offer

In Reply To: I am graduating college and was interviewing with a company of older professionals in a RE/construction advisory firm a month ago. There was a verbal agreement that I would receive an offer. We did not discuss salary, just an outline of their benefits. Two weeks later they were able to sit down with each and discuss the terms of my offer since this would be a new hiring experience from them. Last week they said they were rounding it off and don't worry, I'll receive it soon. I really want to have something in writing soon as well as discuss salary, but the company would just like to put the whole thing together before we do. Am I stuck just waiting it out? After four weeks, would it be annoying to ask a third time about the status of when I can receive it. I feel this is a rediculous amount of time to wait, but it's a good opportunity for me and I don't have other offers as of now.
Message: I have the same situation now, just not so long. Last time this happened, I followed up after a week, was told it is coming, it didnt come, then I followed up a week later and was told the job wouldnt be offered. I checked with friends this time and they said wait a week, then call and say "hey, i have other things happening here with my life and need that to plan. Please send it by xxx." If they say no, they wouldnt want you anyhow so there is no reason to be disappointed. 4 weeks is too long to wait, the company is taking advantage.
