Hey everyone,
Thought I could get some advice/insight from the Vault community. I graduated a couple of years ago and was working in finance while pursuing a professional sport. I had a good level of success with my athletic pursuits but now that I am putting the sports career behind be, I am looking to get into IBanking.
I have found it to be a bit difficult making the trnasition because my previous finance job did not involve corporate finance, etc. It would have been impossible to juggle a pro sports career and an Inv. Banking position at the same time, so I figured I would pursue sports while I could and then make the jump to I-Banking.
I went to a school that is the target for all of the major IBanks (a top 10 school) but have found it to be tough to land interviews. My resume is pretty good but certainly doesn't jump out and say "IBanker material" at first glance. I try to explain my background and motivation for IBanking in my cover letter but this makes for a lengthy letter and perhaps HR doesn't even read it.
Does anyone have some helpful advice they could provide in how I could move forward w/ an IBanking career? I've been networking where I can but I don't know too many people who are involved in that field. Your help is appreciated... |
