In Reply To: For my college magazine, we are looking for tips on what men should wear to an interview. What is the right suit? What do certain colors say about you as a person? Just seeking some basic tips on what male job-seekers should wear or keep in mind.
Message: The suit should be dark - blue or black; a fine (very fine, almost neglible) pinstripe is OK as well. The shirt should be white or medium blue; button down preferably. You can take some risks with a tie but nothing over the top so leave the Tabasco or Looney Tunes themed ties at home. Dark (read: black) socks and black shoes; the shoes should be shined just prior to the interview. make sure that everything fits well, if you look slovenly or unkempt you've blown your first impression and you never get a second chance to make a first impression. Besides clothes - make sure your hair is combed, breath is fresh, and you are generally clean. Also, and this applies mostly to the frat brats, leave the bravado at the door. There were so many candidates that looked good on paper and five minutes into the interview blew it because they thought I would buy into their self serving bs. Be confident and assertive not cocky and arrogant. There endeth the sermon. Yazbro (imparting 25-years of business experience to whoever wants to listen)
