In Reply To: I graduate this May with a Bachelor in Business Administration. I recently inherited a decent sum of money, which I intend to use for starting a business as soon as I feel capable. My plan is to work 2 to 4 years max and hopefully gain the knowledge needed to start a company. I??m still not sure about the type of business I??ll be creating, although it will most likely lie within the manufacturing, retail, or import/export segments. Since I want to learn the ??skills?? needed as soon as possible, my question to you is: What are the best entry level positions suited for my situation? In other words, which 2-4 year job or jobs would better prepare me for the task of running my own company? Keep in mind that knowledge, not salary/benefits, is my main priority. Thank you, I appreciate any suggestions.
Message: Hey, I am also facing the same situation just that I have not inherited any money:P. After speaking to many people and reading a lot, there r two possible career path I am looking at which would endow with much needed skills to start a business: Startup experience or Management consulting. A startup experience gives you the exact knowledge of the way things are done when you start up something from scratch, it is the most close to starting your biz experience. Mgmt. consulting on the other hand endows you with much needed analytical and logical thinking skills which would be relevant in all situations. I am pretty divided over which too choose...but I would be happy to hear your thoughts...do mail me at itskaushal@hotmail.com....thanks
