After an intensive 5-year BS/MS program to become a Computer Engineer, I'm realizing that since I've been in this all along for the money, why not take the cherry, and keep going instead of settling for a $60k/yr job... go for an MBA! People have sung praises to my decision telling me how valuable an engineer with a Master's degree AND an MBA is today, and it sounds credible, but there is just so much information out there that I'd love to hear anything on this issue. Most importantly are these two questions...
1) How important is the name of the B-school?
2) Do I have to work first for 2-3 years before going for an MBA? I have a feeling I won't want to do that once I have a FT job, but interested in hearing what you will say.
Thanks. |

Depends what industry. From what I've read and heard from other people, the name is very important if you want to make it into the banking inudstry. I'm assuminng you probably want to go into investnment banking.
MBAs usually require 2-3 years experience before applying. The best ones def. do. Take your GMATs now as they will last 5 years and then go work for 2-3 years somewhere and get a great recommendation...
