In Reply To: OK, I am hoping you guys can help me out. It seems that great organizational skills are priority No. 1 for just about every job in existence. The problem is that my organizational skills suck. I have very recently (self) diagnosed with ADD, which makes sense, but I still need to find a job! Can anyone advise me on a good career path for someone who loses paperwork, forgets to return phone calls and just generally sucks at organization?
Message: Dear ADD gal, Number one.....get diagnosed for real. Go on line at Amenclinic.com and take those tests. Go to CHADD.com (I think) and find a physician who they recommend for your area and go see the person. Read Driven to Distraction, or ADD in a Different Voice, or more current books. They can help you figure out what to do. Amen's book, Healing ADD: The breakthrough program that allows you to see and heal the 6 types of ADD is VERY helpful. If you are truly ADD, find out just what will help you because it is amazing what you can do when you get help with it.There are support groups, there are natural life approaches (AMENCLINIC.com has a number of those.) and there are stimulants....which can make a difference in one day!! I am in a perfect job, in some ways, for ADD....namely I am a psychologist who helps business people work together better. ACtually, you should consider the issue: ARe you able to help OTHERS organize their problems much better than you can your own? There are some problems that I must be careful about....my office is often a mess, of course, so I must make sure that there are some things that I never misplace (like my business check book, my date book, etc.) Consulting can be the perfect job.....if you have an expertise that people want to buy. My best wishes, as a seriously ADD Gal. Smiling, Melocello.
