I have been recommended for a job by a CIO whom I knew long time back. I never worked directly with him and so donot know him well.
I immediately wrote him a thank you note but have been hesistant to call him for the fear that he may think I am a pain in the wrong place. I had my interview for this position (with other people in the company )last friday.
Is it appropriate to call CIO?
If so what should I say to him?
What is the right thing to do without sounding desperate to get the job ( which I am)?
Please help!!!! |

My personal opinion: If he recommended you, he must think highly of you, and probably wouldn't be perturbed by a follow up call - but it may be too soon. (Maybe you should wait until mid-week - I'm not sure...)
Also, if you just want to "touch base" or keep your name fresh in his mind - but also don't want to seem like a pest - you could call his work number very early or late in the day, when you're likely to get his voice mail. A message may be less intrusive, depending on how busy he is.
As far as what you should say... I would just mention that you interviewed with so-and-so, you think the conversation went well, you're hoping to move to the next step of the process, thanks again for the recommendation, and you look forward to hearing from the company again soon. Something along those lines.
Good luck!
