In Reply To: Usually, people get math degrees when they want to pursue a career as a teacher or a college professor. If you want to do the latter, then you should enroll in graduate school. As far as private industry is concerned, there isn't much out there for people with BS engineering degrees, let alone math or ES degrees. If you want to get a job with a bank or insurance company, you will probably need a business degree, preferrably an MBA. With a math degree, and your boredom with IT, you may be able to land a job as a teller in a bank, but that's about it.
Message: I knew some girl in college who graduated when I did with a degree in Math. And she landed a pretty nice job with a bank in North Carolina. Im sure she didnt have a finance or business double major with it, although maybe she had a minor. I have heard from others, like people in my career center, that there are analyst jobs out there for people with Math degrees, but I just do not know what those jobs are. And maybe you need some business experience if not a degree to get those like you said. Can you think of any analyst positions that a Math degree can get you? thanks.
