In Reply To: If there is anyone out there that has ever been terminated from a position 1)How long did it take you to find an employer willing to hire you? 2)How did you explain your termination during the interview? I have been unemployed for over 6 months and explaining why I was terminated is getting harder and harder. The real reason: my boss and I were like oil and water and the person that replaced me has since left as well-it REALLY is my boss that's the problem. My reason during the interview: I was not the right fit for the position. This explanation is obviously not working for me.
Message: Don't say that you weren't the right fit for the position at that employer company. Instead, ask questions about the "culture" at the employer with which you are interviewing. Hear what the interviewer has to say and then fit -- or don't fit -- it to your needs, styles and preferences as an employee and the same things from you t-be manager. I was laid off 32 months ago; my three person dept. was reduced to two. I gave up looking at 21 months and having been working in insurance sales, which is not a best fit for a number of reasons. I'll do this until I crate something new for myself or until "something" drops from the sky on me! And, contrary to what the Bush says, things are not going weell in this country's employment market and our economy.
