I just recently graduated from college (May '04) and I am still unemployed! I have been temping for a little over a month but I have applied to a great number of jobs and still nothing permanent has come about. I don't want to be temping forever. I am still applying for postions while temping and the temp agencies have told me they would assist with finding temp-permanent positions but they haven't come up with anything and I still haven't found anything I like and I get stuck answering phones for places that don't pay enough! I know the economy is bad but I don't want to work somewhere that I hate and makes my college degree a waste of money. I apply to tons of companies and organizations but never hear back from them despite the fact that I have alot of good/ various work experience. Any advice? |

As you can see from the replies to your post, you are not alone. I graduated in May 03, majoring in Finance. The best job I can find now is in a call center, for $14 hrly. Not what I went to college for, but it puts some food on the table. I studied to become an analyst, not even thinking the jobs would go overseas. Sallie Mae will be waiting a long time to get her money back. The only comfort I get is knowing I am not alone. One of the few things we can do to change this situation is to vote this month.
