I recently landed what I thought would be a terrific opportunity. Unfortunately, when I started the job I quickly realized that it was not. I have been working at the new organization for about a month, but I am already looking for a new job. My question: Do I include this job on my resume? I think that it would look bad if I am looking for a new job after only one month of employment with them. I also don't want to be deceptive. I really am not sure what to do about this.
Thanks! |

If I were you, I wouldn't include it... as a manager, my first thought would be "if they are willing to jump ship so easily, why would I want to take the risk?" At this point, just put all your previous employment on your resume with years (leave out months). Chances are prospective employers will just assume current employment when looking at the resume (at least until the end of the year). If it comes up in an interview, don't mention the one month job, just talk to needing to re-assess where your career is headed, looking for opportunities to move your career forward, etc. No need to give prospective employers a reason not to hire you ;)
