You have to pick up the phone and call right away. Even if you can't speak to him, leave a msg. However, my experience is that if a company is ready to make an offer, especially when the hiring manager specifies a date, they will get back to you within two days after the last round of interview. I don't know when you sent your thank you email but next time, send it the very next day after the interview. |

Definitely make the call. Chances are either the hiring manager got caught up in one of the thousand or so things currently on his/her plate, or the HR process is slowing him down. Having been a hiring manager in the past, both are real scenarios?? after finding the candidate I wanted, I had an urgent matter that took up about a week, and then when I got back to my HR recruiter about making an offer, it took another three or four days to get the offer drafted and approved by those in my reporting chain. These types of delays are more common in larger organizations where the demands and red tape limitations are higher, so don??t get discouraged and make the call. Worst case, they tell you they chose someone else. Best case, they let you know that things got tied up and the offer is in the mail (or they make the offer right then). Either way, showing interest in the job and a willingness to pursue it never hurts. Final note?? finding a new job is an exercise in sales (you are selling your talents and experiences), make sure you do what you can to close the sale.
