If there is anyone out there that has ever been terminated from a position
1)How long did it take you to find an employer willing to hire you?
2)How did you explain your termination during the interview?
I have been unemployed for over 6 months and explaining why I was terminated is getting harder and harder. The real reason: my boss and I were like oil and water and the person that replaced me has since left as well-it REALLY is my boss that's the problem. My reason during the interview: I was not the right fit for the position. This explanation is obviously not working for me. |

I was unemployed for about 10 months by choice recently. When I decided to return to corporate, it took me only 3 weeks to secure an offer after weighing 2 others. In light of the current economic climate, employers are more sympathetic towards employment gaps of 6-18 months. I don't think the reason you gave so far is reflecting well on yourself because the employer can proceed to ask why you or your company think that you are not a good fit. This is the time for a white lie. Say you want to explore a new career (if u r switching), looking for a more challenging job, seeking a position closer to your career objectives i.e. the position you are interviewing for. I had a legitimate reason when asked for why I left the company so I didn't have any problem.
