In Reply To: You have to pick up the phone and call right away. Even if you can't speak to him, leave a msg. However, my experience is that if a company is ready to make an offer, especially when the hiring manager specifies a date, they will get back to you within two days after the last round of interview. I don't know when you sent your thank you email but next time, send it the very next day after the interview.
Message: I'm sure you've followed up by now and I'm a firm believer that if you want something, you have to go after it. However, in the event that you don't hear back, just wanted to let you know that some companies can be jerks about the process. I interviewed with a company, the manager said he liked me, asked to to take a personality test and after that I had another interview with the HR person who said she liked me and that they wanted to be able to place me. Then not much happened and I called the manager back and he said that I was short listed and it was between myself and 2 other internal candidates and they would make a decision in a week. A week goes by and I hear nothing so I call and follow up again. However, this time I don't hear back from anyone so I'm assuming that they've hired someone else but didn't have the decency to return my calls or even drop me an e-mail to say thanks for your time. So, hope that your story has a happy ending but as long as you're professional, you don't have a thing to worry about - it's the company who is rude when they don't get back to someone who they have told they would like to pursue. But in any event, it never hurts to call!
