In Reply To: I am currently employed and enjoy my postion to a degree. Of coarse, i have some serious problems with my boss, but that is not a show stopper. Recently, a major international corporation has offered me a position (and I was not even seeking one at the time). The offer is definitely agreeable and is not a concern. where I am having problems is the fact that I am married (wife is non-working) with a child and a new one on the way. We do not care for the city we live in, however, we have become very comfortable here. We know several people, own a house, etc. We do not have any family here though. Career wise, this job offer could make me for the rest of my life. However, I am having a hard time coming to terms with relocating to a brand new city and leaving the things I have become comfortable with the last few years. Has anyone gone through something similar? Couldyou offer some insight or thought here? It is keeping me up at nights!
Message: ... it sounds as if there is little upside to your current situation aside from being comfortable. A condition that can change suddenly. Look long term. The short-term shock and hassle of changing is what holds most people back. Look before you leap! Does the current company have a history of layoffs? Are they providing you with relocation assistance? Vertical or Lateral move? "Set for life?", Have you even visited this new city? Etc,... Good Luck?
