A couple of weeks ago I applied for a position & had a great phone interview. I was then asked to meet with the Head of the Dept. for a F2F, he was flying in to meet with a few final candidates, me being one of them (he stressed that he was only meeting with a few people). This interview was on Thurs & he ended our conversation saying that he was the final step in the process & would possibly have a decision by Friday (the next day). It's been a week since my interview & I've heard nothing. My gut tells me I didn't get the job as I haven't been asked for references, etc., but just seeing if anyone else has been in a similar situation and it had a positive outcome. I really want this job & it's killing me not knowing if I got it or not. Either way, I just want to know so I can move forward. I sent a "thank you" right after the interview, to cover my bases. Would it be appropriate to contact this manager or wait? |

You have to pick up the phone and call right away. Even if you can't speak to him, leave a msg. However, my experience is that if a company is ready to make an offer, especially when the hiring manager specifies a date, they will get back to you within two days after the last round of interview. I don't know when you sent your thank you email but next time, send it the very next day after the interview.
