This is the first time I've written, or posted anyting on the internet, I guess this is what it is called. (So try and not laugh at me too much).
Anyways, back to the serious business of job hunting and actually finding one. Depressed?!! Yah, i'm 56 and have a BA from more than 30yrs ago. I'v been in & out of a lots, shame on me, I know, but can't change the past. Mostly failed attempts at various sales jobs, restaurant mgmt, insurance, bla bla. Never really gave any of it a chance. I'v tried this stuff for short employed periods followed by long terms of Unemp. Talk about depressed, now when I talk to my wife about getting a job and keeping one, she kind of snickers. Depressed?, Christ yeh. I live in SE Wi area. Seems most of the work here is farming or factory work. I've lived here almost my whole life. Anyways, I've fallen into a self-imposed job search trap, I think. I heard a recruiter say " you can't expect different results by dong the same thing over and over", that's me. I don't know how to help much, maybe we can help each other just by running ideas. For me, job hunting through newspaper classified, friends, networking, family members, neighbors, wife's co-workers, organizations, none have produced results. At my age and spotty work background, who wants to hire someone with these credentials. I'm not feeling sorry for myelf, i'ts my mess to deal with. Now that i've vented, perhaps people in our situation can help each other. Getajob1948,any responses?? |

I have no advice for you ...
Ok, I'll give it a try. Buy a cleaning service. I bet you'd excel at performing a simple service, or perhaps managing others, who perform a simple service.
