I had a 1st phone interview last Monday for a position I am very interested in ...the call went extremely well & the interviewer expressed this and said that he was very interested in me for the role. The call ended with him saying that he would call me by Friday, latest Monday. I didn't hear from him Monday, so I sent an email inquiring about my candidacy. It's now Wed & still nothing. No call, no response to my email. Thoughts on how to proceed? I don't want to be pushy, but I don't want to lose out on the opportunity either...thanks! |

A similar thing just happened to me last week - a great interview, just waiting for a job offer, I did get a brief email reply that told me I'd have to wait several weeks more to hear definitively. Damn! But trying to understand - it is human nature for good feelings to flow during the actual meeting, and then some cooling as the interviewer thinks over his/her options and alternatives - including seeing some more candidates. Don't crowd him by getting pushy or trying to sell yourself too hard - you'll sound shrill and desperate and tick him off. Give him some space. You sent your email off, now cool your heels for at least until the middle of next week, and then maybe you should follow up by a phone call - if necessary leave a message just reaffirming your interest and that you're trying to find out what the process and decision timing will be. You've already done your sales pitch at that good interview - though your first follow up email should have just reaffirmed your key strong points, not sounded like they broke a solemn pledge to get back to you and you're ticked off at them.
You never really know what is being debated about you - you may be happily suprised yet. Chill.
Good luck.
