Message: Having survived several decades within major consulting firms and the Fortune 100 I would suggest being over dressed. Crispness gets noticed. I must admit that I am challanged with appropriate attire for a woman but for men the guidelines are simple. Shirts with collars that can be professionally laundered with heavy starch, trousers that are dry cleaned and pressed with a crease, shoes that can be shined and always all natural fibers. Anything less is meant for a barbeque not the office. If you need additional help, hit a few high end stores during the day. Most offer "dresser" services that plan your wardrobe and will provide you with must have coordinates. It will get you started and will be a lifesaver if the role requires a roadtrip.
