Hi! I work in a business casual environment in a contracting firm in LA and basically here's the deal: Fridays are casual (but still not jeans and tshirts here...khakis and pants and more casual shirts--think cotton) and the rest of the week is more formal. Essentially business casual means you don't need a suit. Some things to buy: basic black and khaki skirts, long dressy pants (these are WONDERFUL...skirts every day gets REALLY OLD really fast), button down shirts and sweaters--think layer. A lot of offices vary in temperature but are usually on the chilly side. pumps and close-toed shoes are preferred, and I've found comfort is key. You want something you are comfortable sitting in and filing in. Think about it, you may have to get on the floor a lot to put something in a file and do you want to do that in three inch heels and a mini skirt? I think not. ok, enough rambling if you need more advice feel free to email me mbarh@shapell.com :) |
