My company is not doing well and today they let the Manager and a few others go. My boss quit and now I report to a lady that makes 1/2 my salary and is now starting learn what I do. My old boss came to me today as a courtesy and told me that after a big inventory project is over in the middle of September he is sure I will be let go. They just need the extra help for another couple weeks. Should I ask the VP if this going to happen? If I let them know I know they might let me go know and I'm not ready for it.

start networking ....
you may want to explore contract opportunities within the company ... Often times companies fire everyone and bring many back as contractors, usually at higher pay but less benefits.
Understand, this is a fact of life in today's business climate, and it will be from here on out ... No-one to blame really, just a new a reality.
