In Reply To: $17 to $18 per hour with no benefits is a small fraction of what I was being paid as an engineering professional. Quite a deal, huh?
Message: This country was built on the hardwork of immigrants. Tolerance of Americans and freedom is what makes USA so attractive to foreigners, and instead of complaining about influx of foreigners, you might be happy that US is a desirable country to work and live by outsiders. Besides, if there were no immigrants, no H1Bs or greencards, it would be very difficult for US to be the superpower and the leader of all technological advances that it is right now. (do read "the millionaire next door" if you have not, and you will see what I mean) Before blaming the foreigners for the problems you might be having right now, it might be more productive to see what the foreigners are bringing to the table, what makes them add value to the company that they work for, and try to gain those skills yourself. Not all H1Bs are getting paid less than their American counterparts.. We should all look for ways to enlargen the employment pool, not turn to one another.. This is my two cents.
