In Reply To: This economy started going bust before "W" got into office. If there's anyone to blame, it can be dropped on Slick Willy and his band of merry men in the senate during the 1990s. It was one big party and NOTHING got done for eight years while the Dems rode on the prosperity brought on by Reaganomics. By the time "W" came around, the party was over and now he has to grab the mop an bucket to clean up the mess.
Message: You and I, and the poster to which I posted and I, could argue forever the merits of Bush v. Clinton (I actually was calling him "W" because there was a really major problem with my keyboard and I couldn't type "Bush" without getting 17 letters). This is an incredibly important election, and I am not working for the Kerry campaign. This is unusual for me. I am too involved in trying to keep my family afloat, handle our constantly multiplying crises, and take care of our autistic child who is less important to George Bush than protecting the pharmaceutical manufacturers who may have been responsible for causing her condition. So, if I were to take debunking the myth that Bush inherited the bad economy and is entirely unresponsible for the escalating national debt and outsourcing of our jobs, the contempt for and decline of personal welfare for families in real need when all corporations seem to need to do is donate to the Bush campaign and they can have anything they want when they SHOULD have enough wealth to not need government bailouts, it would take time and effort I simply don't have time to put in. But I'll take a president with the intellect to form effective sentences on his own and enough economic savvy to realize that a household budget has to be balanced, whether it is a household of one or a household of 260 million over this imbecile any day of the week. And now that we are not fresh on the heels of President Reagan's death any longer, let's call it like it is. If you did well under Reagan, good for you. That means you already had a certain amount of properity. My family did not benefit from Reaganomics, in fact we have never done well when a Republican was in the White House. And that has been true even as my family makeup has changed form completely. Ultimately, in my opinion, it comes down to how you see the world and who and what you value.
