Topic Name: Relocation: How to get big cities jobs?

In Reply To: You would think a big city like Chicago would have more job opportunities, but it doesn't. It was at one time a big manufacturing center, but the constant drain of manufacturing to Asia is taking its toll. The sad reality is, it is VERY expensive to live here, but good paying jobs are hard to come by. After living here our whole lives, we now have our house up for sale, and we are planning to move hundreds of miles away to the country where expenses are dirt cheap and I will have a consulting business.
Message: It's a lot cheaper than Boston, New York and most of California. I think Chicago is one of the most reasonable cities when comparing cost of living with career opportunities.
