i'm glad we are on the same page...i know this is easy to say; especially since i do not currently have a job and i should be kissing-ass -- but employees need (as a bloc) to make more demands of employers without fear of [that] employer's retribution. WE are that employer don't forget. without US, that employer can not function; doesn't matter if that company is IBM or a Starbuck's coffee house.
i say, the strongest reason for outsourcing, for example, is that we employees remain apathetic. what is the real unspoken fear -- even on this board? having your job role shipped overseas. if every employee took one day off in solidarity of keeping jobs in the USA -- does anyone not think that would make boards and CEOs take notice?
speaking out may infact harm one's chances for job placement or advancement. in my case, the alternative of "silence" eats away at you inside. i'd hate to that person's child or dog. :P
and the site in question is thinkandask.com. just like my ID here. :)

Hello again, I do agree with you. Employees should be appreciated instead of being treated as an inanimate Cog in the Machinery. I have seen Companies hiring people and then using them for a time only to disgard them like they were refuse especially when it comes time for a Salary increase. I usually refer to these places as " People-Mills" whereby they "process" naive but ever hopeful Employees who enter in through their front door only to be later shot out the backdoor when no longer needed.
I also believe that what goes around eventually comes around. I have seen this happen several times in my career. It seems to me that these buisnesses end up not lasting very long. I don't know whether this is the Good Lord exacting out a measure of justice, or whether the Business Owner's behaviour has finally caught up with him or her.
I do believe that Employees need to start making "waves" in an effort to wake these Employers up due to the fact that they seem to take everything for granted. Like you I wonder what would happen if Employees DID refuse to work for just ONE day?. I'm sure it would prove to be nothing short of Bedlam!
It also seems short sightedly stupid for Companies to find workers overseas to do the work, because in the end WHO do they think will have the money to pay for their products....certainly not those who are out of work nor those who are overseas making these products. I really wonder who they think they can sell their products too.....it really is a Mystery to me! Unless they have a Dingbat's motto of "Let's make a Profit Today but go out of Business Tommorrow". As for me I am not into "playing the game" anymore, and so I only work for myself now due to the fact that I will never be out of a job nor will I need to submit myself to anymore ABUSE!
Thanks for your website address and I will be shortly surfing over to take a look at it.
