In Reply To: My wife and I decided that we wanted to live in Boulder, CO, so I started sending out resumes to the few companies out in the area that were looking for help. No response. We figured that it was because I had a Chicago-area address on my resume. We went out there and I got a Mail Boxes Etc. (now The UPS Store) mailbox. It cost me $80 for three months rent and gave me a street address in Boulder. I sent out resumes with the local address. No response. Relocating on speculation of finding a job is extremely risky!
Message: this is not a SURE thing. It worked for me and a few other people I know. Boulder is not as large of a city as NYC, SF, CHI or ATL so Im sure the job market was not as lucrative. If you really want to live there Im sure that you can find a way. It just depends on how bad you want to do it. I agree, moving prior to obtaining a job is very risky and I almost had to do that. Good Luck
