Message Name: You may not contact my most recent employer. How this comes off?

Message: I am currently looking for a job. I have an interview tomorrow, at 11. I know I may not get the answers that I want until after the fact, but right now, I'm faced with a dilemma. I was e-mailed a job app, and it has the question, "may we contact this employer?" The employer in question, on paper, says they let me go due to performance reasons. However, I had discovered that my boss was making disparaging remarks about my race, and had printed the e-mails. When I notified corporate, they didn't fully investigate the matter. They put me on probation, and I was actually let go before my probationary period ended. I was only at this company 8 months. Due to the circumstances, I don't want my former employer contacted, especially not my former boss! What I intend to say is that I don't think that I was at this company long enough for them to make a fair assessment of my work ethic, so I would prefer my other former employers be contacted. Will this fly? If they don't ask me why I don't want my most recent employer contacted, should I even mention anything about this job? I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks.
