Message: There are times I do not really look forward to entering the rat race, working like mad in the corporate world, only to be discarded for economic reasons (or otherwise, e.g. Enron). Working in a non-profit or charity is fulfilling in a way, but you will never be able to set up an endowment or trust fund for the deserving, let alone go on a world cruise or send your kids to college. Working with one of those chain marketing deals (e.g. Amway, World Financial Group, etc.) seems promising, but you can never quite "disengage" from work completely, as everyone is a potential customer (plus you get to annoy everyone you know, sooner or later). Seems that being one's own employer is best, but it is really hard at the beginning to get started, especially with no experience or financial outlay. I have also observed that with death, many of life's problems are solved.... hmmm... I realize you can't have everything, but there might be some other options out there I haven't thought about.
