In Reply To: Rather than doing something as risky as quitting NOW, you should ramp-up your search. If you can't do it because of your work, then you should get professional help. Yes, full disclosure requires me to say that professional help is not free and that I'm a Job Hunter's Consultant. If you can't afford help, fine. If you can, it's the best way to avoid the risks of having limited options. Even if your car is paid for, and if you live in a state where insurance isn't mandatory, it only makes good sense to pay a little now (for insurance), than taking the risks of what might happen (and how much it could cost) if you have an accident. Same logic.
Message: I thought long and hard about quitting, even started my job search. Then, I was let go in November. You guessed it, I'm still lookin'. So if I can't get a job when I HAVE a job, how long will it be till I (or you) get one when I (you)don't???!!! By the way, if I could honestly pay someone to actually pound on doors for me, actively solicit work from contacts for me, I'd pay whatever it takes! But I'm not gonna pay for advice or resume critiques, or "networking".
