Discrimination against mothers? |

Here's my "problem".. I was working as an analyst for an internet company when I got laid off on the last day of my maternity leave. (company had big financial problem - got bought) Anyway, I took a year off to be with my son, it was a tough decision, being only 26 at the time. Now he is 2, and I have been pulling my hair out trying to get a job. (btw, i did not choose to be a mother at 26 but my husband and I are deliriously happy) ..It seems that I do fine on phone interviews and I go in for the office interview and have always been asked what I felt about 55-60 hr weeks? When I appear hesitant, that's when all enthusiasm goes SOUTH on the employers part.
I have made the decision to exit from the IT industry and have been looking into areas like marketing and retail. PROBLEM IS : When recruiters see my resume, they (retail) see me as a flight risk...
How do I get pass all this?
(I know some of this is attributed to the economy right now but there's gotta to be a way)
Thanks,
Frustrated young mom
