In Reply To: I was just let go of my job last Friday. Since I had already seen the writing on the wall, I began searching for a new job since last fall. I began interviewing with a company in December, had a face to face interview last week and was given an offer today. I am not sure how to handle my situtation. Should I be upfront with the employer and when accepting the job tell them that I lost my last job between the time of the interview and the offer - or should I just be quiet?
Message: If you be quiet - you risk that the new employer will check your last place of employment and find out. This would look really bad. But, if you know your last employer is not going to say you were laid off - then it would be better not to say anything. Being laid off can raise a red-flag - although in recent times, it is quite common to be laid off do to some many mergers and downsizing.
