What about positions unrelated to finance? |

"If you don't have the competence to handle your personal/financial affairs, how competent are you going to be in business." Obviously there are many flaws to this way of thinking (situations beyond our control, i.e. being laid off), and unfortunately the Bulge Bracket firms can pick and choose who they want from the cream of the crop. It actually helps them because that is one metric that will help make the list of prospective employees smaller. Does anyone know the other firms that have a zero tolerance policy with regard to personal credit history? |

I'm in marketing and they still ask to run a credit check when I apply for positions. I find it to be an invasion of my privacy. I avoid companies where I know or suspect them to run credit checks. As far as I'm concerned, how I handle my personal finances is no one's concern but my own. I'm married, so what they see in my report is also a reflection of my husband, why is that an employers business?
