In Reply To: I don't know if others have had this problem, but all the jobs that are out there seem to require that people are already licensed, and since there are so many people unemployed with licenses no companies are willing to sponsor. So I am looking for ways to get myself licensed. I have found a company on the web called Quest Capital Management http://www.stockbrokerclass.com/pages/954169/index.htm who says they will sponsor someone if they pay a $29 paperwork processing fee. I don't know whether or not to think if they are legit or not. I spoke to someone at Quest, and they told me they would sponsor me and there are no production requirements, no non-competes to sign and i could immediately take the license to another shop if an opportunity arises. First off, has anyone ever heard of this company? Secondly, has anyone earned licenses through this sort of method. Your feedback is appreciated. I just feel that I need to get these licenses some how to make myself more competitive.
Message: Have you thought about working as an assistant or cold caller for a broker at an independent firm and eventually having them sponsor you. Of course, you would most likely have to pay for the expenses. Another option is a fund company such as Vanguard or an insurance co like Metlife. They pay for everything and pay a salary. You would probably get your series 6 but at least you'd have exp. in the industry and a license to put on the resume to show the brokerages that you're ready.
