I just received an I-Banking offer from JP, and am torn between this and a boutique. The boutique is paying more (turns out to be around $90K when u add the bonuses) and has less hours. JP has the name and large deal flows. Which one to accept? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
P.S. I also got an offer from Bear, but I'm not sure where that firm is headed!?! any views on this?
Thanks. |

Well, standard on the street for major firms with salary and bonus was $110M last year (for top tier analysts).
To be honest, you'll probably get better experience at a boutique in terms of quality work. 1st year IB do a lot of mindless grunt work.
Hours are a consideration. You think you can handle 100hr/wk on average at a major firm? Come your 30th day without any time off can be painful.
