Not sure what your point is.
My understanding is that one can get an extremely small apartment for about US$3,000 per month on the "Island".
If you want to live in MidLevels in a half decent place (and can't get into Govt employee housing), then you're probably talking US$9 to $10 per month.
This is based on what I was told by someone in HK about 4 years ago. I can't believe rents have gone down. |

The point is that its not more expenseive than NYC.
NYC you get nothing for under 1,000. In HK, you can find something.
For 2,000 what you will find will be better in HK than in NYC.
But i suppose it can get marginal.
People generally get paid less in HK
