do you have any idea on how background checks for potential employees work, includes achedemic and criminal.
i heard that one person was rejected after being offered a job because of a shoplifting charge, does this kind of thing happen and to what degree?

Any forms that you will fill out in the application process will ask if you have a previous record, and you must be honest because it is a condition that affects employment. However, you will notice that it states felony charges, not misdemeanors. A shoplifting charge would not have to be reported, as a result. Murder in the first.. different story. Yes, you can/will be fired if you lie about a past charge and they pull it up in the HR on boarding process.
Schools are the same thing. You will be required to submit an official transcript (I actually had to bring in my diploma years ago) to prove you received the degree you specified.
