In Reply To: I interned with a top investment bank this summer and did not get an offer. I was in corp fin and I really hated the hrs etc. I want to be on the buy-side now. How do I explain myself duing subsequent interviews. Can I just tell them I got an offer or how do I explain the truth.
Message: I am a recent college graduate with a BS in Finance and Marketing Management. I am looking to start my career in the financial industry particuarly in equities research or in M&A. I don't have prior experience in these fields but I do have good solid work experience with 3 renowned Fortune 500 companies. During my internship experience with these firms, I've conducted research but those were more small scale than the kinds of research involved in the equities markets. Thus I'm not sure how worthy my prior research experience will be. I rather work for a small boutique M&A or Research firm than the MS or Goldman. I'm willing to commit to the harsh hrs, work hard to get my foot in the door! Can any professionals already in the M&A or equities research provide me with any pointers on small firms in NYC that I could apply to? Any advice would be appreciated!
